Fighting Off Smart Pests

Of all the peskiest and most intrusive pests one can have in our homes are the rodent control Brisbane. Rats and mice usually is a difficult case to get rid of. Fortunately, there are now different options in getting rid of them: poison them or trap them.

Among the more logical approaches is the thematic solution which is by being able to trap them by simply following their natural circumstance. The approach is to deprive them of their needs (food, water and shelter).

At present, there are now several effective rat traps that we can choose from. Some have very specific mechanical means of getting these animals to walk into their baits. Another drastic is to simply poison these intrusive creatures.

Here is a simplified series of steps on how to get rid of these rodent control Brisbane (rats especially).

Inspection

Before starting anything (buying, setting up, etc) you need to inspect your place very thoroughly in order to size up the extent of the damages done to your property and other household things.

This is also for you to find where to place your rat traps and baits. Since these are the places they visit the most. These will be places where they leave tell-tale signs of their presence – feces, chewed out stuff, torn paper, etc.

The inspection will assist you in determining where to place rodent control Brisbane the traps and the baits.

Bigger

Rats are easy to exclude out of your premises compared to mice because rats are typically bigger. Mice can enter openings small enough as 3/8” wide.

All openings that are bigger than ¼ inch should be sealed to exclude the mice. All containers with openings bigger than 1/2 inch should be sealed, so rats cannot enter.

Rat characteristics

Rats are naturally wary of new objects, new foods or any new changes in the environment around them. They are always exploring their surroundings and are suspicious of new changes.

This suspicious nature keeps them away from traps and bait stations for a day or two. They always approach new food or objects with caution. In a rat colony, there are a few individual rats that are cautious and manage to avoid traps or eating baits.

Trapping / baiting

In practice, trapping rats has some advantages over baiting. This gives reason to people who are averse to rat poison in their homes. Also, correctly done, trapping can get fast results.

It gives the alternative to people who do not want to place rat poison. If done properly, trapping can yield quick results.

Likewise, trapping ensures that you can dispose of dead rats before the odor becomes a problem in hard-to-reach areas or inaccessible.

Food sources

Controlling the rats and stopping them from giving us trouble has its own built-in tasks to be able to implement and carry them out. The strategy is either killing them by poison or setting up traps to catch them.

One way of prevention is to avoid keeping food in the house in containers without sturdy covers. Avoid storing food in garages and sheds, either, unless in rat-proof metal containers.
